A GLIMPSE OF THE DARK SIDE

Dear readers, mutants, vampires & werewolves everywhere,

Before you read anything, I solemnly swear that I had no idea about which part of the world that you are living in.

But I am pretty sure that many of you have the same experience as I do recently, that is: you are getting acutely aware of various glossy, life-sized movie posters everywhere. They include: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War & X-Men: Apocalypse, etc. The list goes on and on.

As always, these superhero movies are predicted as major box-office hits by everyone. Movie fanatics are craving for their trailers & many fan-fictions about different heroes have been published throughout the Internet.

However, let us also not to forget that something crucial about these popular movies has changed. Superman, for example, he is no longer the mighty, beloved character that always wears his bright red underwear on the outside; instead, he establishes his rivalry with another famous hero – Batman; and starts to wear a darker-shaded costume.

The same situation happened to Captain America and Ironman. It seems to me that most of our iconic heroes have already gone from Mr. Perfect to embrace a bit of their darkness in order to satisfy audience’s taste.

Most importantly, by looking at Deadpool’s record-breaking success, I believe that it is high time for us to shed some light on the anti-hero archetype too.

(FYI:  Anti Hero, according to the definition from Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is a protagonist or notable figure who is conspicuously lacking in heroic qualities.)

With this in mind, I set up this website: Classified Anti-Hero File, to share my own analysis about the ‘anti-heroes’ archetype with all of you. After all, from Dirty Harry to Deadpool, the ‘anti-heroes’ had no longer been simply a foil to the ‘traditional heroes’ – but has successfully evolved into different famous varieties, it is vital for each one of us to understand it deeply.

Much Love,

Katelyn
